Creating Multiple Thumbnail Images in Photoshop Step 1Th first step is to create a Photoshop
action. A saved set of commands for the process. Open one of the images in photoshop you wish to resize, then display the
Actions palette by selecting
Windows > Actions.
Click on the
Create New Action icon at the bottom of the palette, as shown in image 1 below.
The
New Action dialog box will appear as in the example below. After you've given your action a descriptive name click
Record.
If you now look at your
Actions palette you will now see it is recording your commands!
Now select
Image > Image Size. In the dialog box that appears enter the size details of your thumbnail. Example below. Click
Ok to apply the new size.
Next we need to save the thumbnail.
Select
File > Save For Web and choose your web optimization settings i usually use a
Quality value of
60 and save mine as
JPEG When you have finalized your settings click
Save

“ To prevent your original file from being overwritten, create a new folder called Thumbnails to store your new thumbnail images in. ”
After saving the thumbnail, close the original image
without saving any changes. The process is now complete! Click the
Stop button at the bottom of the
Actions palette, as shown below.
To see your action in progress, open another photo, select the action you just recorded from the
Actions palette, and click on the
Play button as below.
